1to1WiSh Communities · Pilot program
Help each other where you live, learn, work and worship
Every day, good things go to waste. A graduating student leaves behind a desk and a mini-fridge. A neighbor moving out puts a perfectly good couch on the curb because it's too big to carry to the donation room. Meanwhile, someone just down the hall needs exactly that.
We're inviting a small group of communities in the United States to pilot a free, private 1to1WiSh space for their own members.
Imagine this
| Community | Imagine this |
|---|---|
| Colleges and universities | It's move-out week. A senior who once counted every dollar for textbooks leaves her books, desk lamp and mini-fridge for a first-year student who arrived with one suitcase and a lot of hope. Her last gift to campus becomes someone's first welcome. |
| Apartment and high-rise buildings | A neighbor on the 20th floor is moving and can't carry her couch to the donation room. Two floors down, a young family has been sitting on the floor since they moved in. They meet in the elevator, not on the curb, and a stranger becomes a neighbor. |
| Hospitals | A patient arrives after a fire with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. No family nearby, no money for a meal from the cafeteria, nothing to wear home. A nurse who sees it every day posts one quiet wish, and by discharge day there's a warm outfit, a hot meal and a ride home. Another family needs a wheelchair; someone whose father no longer needs his passes it on with love. |
| Companies and workplaces | A coworker's home floods, and she comes to work pretending she's fine. Her team doesn't make a scene. They simply post what she needs, and one by one it shows up: a bed, dishes, a winter coat for her son. |
| Schools | A child shows up in the same worn shoes every day and a jacket too thin for winter. A family whose kids outgrew theirs quietly passes them on, and a little one walks into class warm, and proud. |
| Churches and faith communities | Church members visit hospitals, shelters and homes every week. They see the need up close, a widow without a working fridge, a patient with nothing to wear, but often don't know how to help beyond a prayer. Now they can post that need, and their congregation can answer it. |
How it works
- Your own private page on 1to1wish.org, set up for you.
- Only your people can join, with an invite code or a school or work email address.
- Members post what they can give and what they need. Neighbors and coworkers see it first and arrange the handoff themselves.
- Your own coordinator approves posts, so it stays your space.
- Nothing goes to waste. Anything nobody claims can be shared with the wider 1to1WiSh site.
1to1WiSh is the matchmaker only. No ads, no selling, no cash requests. We never hold, store or ship anything; people connect and hand things over themselves.
The pilot
The pilot runs for 3 months, at no cost to your organization.
We provide: your private community page, invite codes for your members, a welcome flyer and email to share, coordinator training and support, and a short summary at the end of how many items and favors found a new home.
We ask: one person to act as your coordinator, help spreading the word to your members, a short monthly check-in, and honest feedback at the end.
Join the pilot
We're starting with just a few communities, so each one gets our full attention.
